Course Description
This course explains the importance of learning about computers, the different types of computer systems and their components, the principles by which computer systems work, applications of computers and related technologies and the ways in which the world changed by computers.

Objectives:

  • Understand concepts of computing including hardware, software, telecommunications and networking.
  • Learn to access/generate/process information using productivity tools (word processors, presentation software, electronic spreadsheets), and publicly-accessible information sources (such as the Internet).
  • Learn to effectively organize/store/retrieve information using personal productivity tools such as GUST portal (e-learning, Student Information System, and Library).
  • Learn to cogently present information using the data summarization and presentation features of electronic spreadsheets and presentation software.
  • Learn to communicate effectively via the electronic medium using e-learning collaboration tools and electronic mail.
